Girls’ wrap: Villa Maria downs Strath Haven, 14-12; North Penn remains undefeated

     Chelsea Fay scored five goals while Kathy Young had four and Kyrstin Mackrides added three as visiting Villa Maria Academy defeated Strath Haven, 14-12, in a non-conference girls’ lacrosse game today.

    The win lifted Villa Maria, ranked No. 9 in the PA Media Lacrosse Rankings, to 10-1. Strath Haven, ranked No. 5, fell to 10-2.

    Emily Garrity had five goals and three assists and Julie Hayward had three goals and two assists.

North Penn 16, Central Bucks South 5

    Lauren McDermott had five goals and two assists and Abbie Hartman had five goals to lead the Maidens (13-0) to the Suburban One Continental win.

    Dani Horn scored two goals and Alyssa Culp had a goal and three assists while Ali Green, Stacey Pellechia and Halie Lear each scored once. Goalie Lyndsay Hepler had 16 saves and Brittany Hanrahan led the team with four caused turnovers and Dianna Milano added three caused turnovers.

Council Rock North 20. Central Bucks East 8

    Lindsay Rheiner had eight goals while Elly Plappert, Hannah Plappert and Casey Doyle each had three goals to lead the Indians to the victory. Carly Bitzer and Meredith Lavin each netted two goals for the Patriots.

Wissahickon 22, Norristown 4

    Sam Stutman scored five goals, Ashley Bossert had four and Aubrey Bossert, Anne Bracaglia and Natalie Draham added three apiece as the Trojans cruised to the win.

    Sarah Studdiford had five goals and five assists to lead the Spartans to the Suburbhan One American win. Courtney Ellis, Becca Levis, and Christi Torres each scored once for the Bears.

Souderton 12, Pennridge 11

     Kirsten Walther had three goals while Julia Kudla, Dana Paulding, Danielle Notvest and Liz Mower each scored twice to pace the Indians to the Suburban One Continental. Jess Roy led Pennridge with four goals and Jen Moyer added three.

     Kate Cooper had five goals and two assists and Courtney Cox scored twice while Maddy Evans (five groundballs, three caused turnovers), Carli Fitzgerald (four groundballs) and Jen Kelly led the defense. Kailee Ashby and Molly Seefried also scored for the Ghosts.

Hatboro-Horsham 7, Central Bucks West 7, tie, 2 OT

   The Hatters and Bucks settled for a tie in the Continental Conference. lauren purvis notched three goals for HH and Morgan Ashworth had three for CBW.

     Kaitlin Hildebrand scored four goals and Amanda Norcini and Theresa Brady each had three as the Pioneers cruised to the shutout win.

    Gabby Lochetto notched five goals as the Wildcats claimed the PAC-10 win.

Cardinal O’Hara 21, Kennedy-Kenrick 2  

    Steph McCoy and Julia Costello notched four goals apiece to lead the Lions to the Catholic League rout.

Cardinal Dougherty 14, Lansdale Catholic 13  

    Maggie Howley had the game-winner with less than two minutes to play and scored four goals and Mallory Smith also scored four goals for the Cardinals. Kristen Smart led LC with six goals.

Sacred Heart 19, Nazareth Academy 6  

    Haley Ciccarelli collected seven goals and four assists and Stephanie Finley added six goals and three assists to lead the Lions (5-6) to the Catholic Academies win.

Merion Mercy 18, Gwynedd-Mercy 4  

    Emily Corcoran notched five goals and Emily Corzel had four goals and two assists to lead the Bears the easy Catholic Academies win.

Haverford 16, Ridley 9  

    Katrina Geiger, Liz Bassani and Catie Coyle had four goals each for the Fords (3-9) in the Central League win. Jenna Massimo paced Ridley with four tallies.

Marple Newtown 23, Chichester 11  

    Melanie Sarcinello (seven) and Jackie Roebuck (six) combined to score 13 goals for the Tigers (7-6). Kellee Pace led the Eagles with five goals.

Upper Perkiomen 16, Upper Merion 5

    Cassidy Arner had five goals to lead the Indians in a non-league game.
