Junior Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby) scored nine goals in helping the Widener women’s lacrosse team win two games handily on their recent Spring Break tour to Oregon.

Elliott tallied four goals in the Pride’s 15-6 victory Thursday over Pacific (OR) in Forest Grove, OR.

Elliott scored three times in the opening half, when Widener (2-1) bolted to a 9-3 lead. Freshman Anna Geeter completed a hat trick in the opening half.

Junior Brittany Dippolit also scored three goals and senior Grace Cavanaugh scored twice. Geeter, sophomores Calina Walz and Mellany Broomall as well as freshman Jen Harnden dished two assists.

Sophomore Lauren Fidati and freshman Emily Solt had six ground balls apiece for the Pride, who closed with a 33-12 shots edge. Freshman goalies Shelley O’Neill and Linda Salcedo (Archbishop Prendergast) made two saves apiece.

On Tuesday Elliott scored five goals and dished two assists in Widener’s 17-8 pounding of Linfield in McMinnville, OR. Elliott scored twice during a span, which Widener netted the first eight goals over 13 minutes. Walz scored three times in that run.

Walz and Broomall each had four goals and an assist with Cavanaugh and freshman Solt posting two and one apiece.

Elliott’s seven points matched her career best from March 29, 2008, against Wilkes and her goals fell one shy of her total from that match.

O’Neil made four saves for the Pride.

Widener hosts Neumann Wednesday at 4:00 pm. Please note this originally was scheduled as a road contest.
