Katie Lawson scored with 1 minute, 24 seconds to play, lifting host Drexel to a 10-9 come-from-behind victory over Virginia Tech Saturday in a women’s opener.
Goals by Mariana Uribe (Notre Dame) and Kim Kabernagel (Conwell-Egan) just minutes earlier had tied the game for the Dragons. Lawson finished with three goals while Uribe and Kabernagel added two apiece.
Charlotte Wood (Conestoga), Allegra Gerhardt (Conestoga) and Becca Drylie-Perkins each scored once for Drexel and defender Amanda Gregg (Upper Dublin) made a key defensive play in the closing seconds to help preserve the win.
Lauren LaBella made five saves in goal.
Colgate 19, Stony Brook 7
Senior co-captain Molly Carroll (Strath Haven) scored three goals and senior gioalie Sara Drexler (Hill School) turned aside four shots in 45 minutes of play as the hosts cruised to a win in their opener.
Notre Dame 22, Duquesne 7
Freshman Maggie Tamasitis (Boyertown) had a goal and two assists to help the visiting Irish cruise in their opener.
