Ashley Rutz and Stefany McKee had five goals and two assists apiece as visiting La Salle whipped Presbyterian, 19-5, Sunday in women’s Division I lacrosse action.
The Explorers (1-1) also got two goals from Nora McGurkin, (Penn Charter; four assists, seven groundballs, five draw controls), Jill Davis (Ridley; two assists) and Taylor Ryland. Rutz added seven draw controls. Mara Schnellenbach (Ridley) earned the win in goal, making nine saves through 44:30 minutes.
Cincinnati 11, Villanova 10
Erica Rybinski had four goals and an assist and Taylor Lucy scored twice for the losing Wildcats (1-3).
Virginia 12, Penn State 11, OT
The No. 2 Cavaliers (5-1) scored the game’s final seven goals to deal the Nittany Lions (4-1) their first defeat of the year. Stephanie Ellis (Radnor) made 14 saves in goal for Penn State. Virginia defender Katie Shannon (Downingtown West) had three draw controls and three caused turnovers for Virginia.
Davidson 10, Monmouth 7
Megan Brennan (Archbishop Carroll) scored twice and Monica Johnson (Archbishop Carroll) made seven saves for Monmouth (0-3) in defeat.
Stanford 18, William & Mary 9
Julie Christy (Conestoga) and Amanda Schwab (Harriton) scored once each to help the host Cardinal (6-2, ranked No. 18) drub W&M (2-3, ranked No. 20).
Division II
Bentley 15, Philadelphia University 10
Freshman Taylor Peltzer (Archbishop Wood) scored four goals for the Rams (0-2) in defeat.
Men
Virginia 14, Cornell 10
John Haldy (Haverford School) scored once and Ken Clausen (Hill School) had four caused turnovers to help the No. 1 Cavaliers (7-0) stay perfect and deal No. 4 Cornell (2-1) its first defeat.
Princeton 15, Manhattan 6
Paul Barnes (Haverford School) won 7 of 10 face-offs to help the Tigers (4-0) remain undefeated.
Notre Dame 9, North Carolina 7
Duncan Swezey (Hatboro-Horsham) had two assists to help the No. 7 Fighting Irish (4-0) remain perfect and deal the No. 3 Tar Heels (6-1) their first loss.
Belleramine 14, Wagner 8
John Hird (Shipley School) scored once for Wagner (1-4).
Division III
Merchant Marine 7, Swarthmore 5
Gavin Musynske scored twice, but the Garnet (1-1) suffered their first loss.
