Drexel junior Katie Lawson scored four goals but Towson’s offense proved to be too much as the Tigers prevailed, 17-12, in a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) women’s lacrosse game Sunday.
The Dragons trailed just 7-6 at halftime, but Towson reeled off 10 second-half goals to pull away. The loss was Drexel’s fifth in a row as the Dragons dropped to 7-6, 0-4 CAA on the season. Towson got seven goals from Nikki Marcinik to help the Tigers improve to 8-5, 2-2 CAA.
Becca Drylie-Perkins and Charlotte Wood (Conestoga) each had two goals for the Dragons.
Ohio State 15, Vanderbilt 13
Kelly Haggerty (Unionville) had three goals and two assists and Gabby Capuzzi (Archbishop Carroll) had one goal to pace the Buckeyes (10-3, 2-0). Haggerty now has 47 goals and 31 assists while Capuzzi has 19 goals and four assists.
Old Dominion 11, James Madison 8, OT
Ashley Kellogg (Downingtown West) had three goals and an assist and Sarah Geary (Springfield-Delco) had 10 saves as ODU (9-3, 3-1) won the CAA contest. Mary Kate Lomady (Abington) had a goal and two assists, Jaime Dardine (Marple Newtown) had a goal and an assist and Annie Brophy (Archbishop Carroll) had one goals for JMU (5-8, 1-3).
Hofstra 8, Delaware 6
Julianna Jeffers (Springfield-Delco) scored twice for the Blue Hens (7-6, 3-1) in their first CAA loss.
William & Mary 17, George Mason 16, OT
Megan Udovich (Ridley) fired in six goals, but GM (5-7, 1-3) dropped the CAA game. Udovich now has 25 goals this year.
American 9, Davidson 5
Amanda Makoid (Archbishop Wood) scored twice for American (3-11).
Stanford 13, California 4
Amanda Schwab (Harriton) scored once and Bess Siegfried (Agnes Irwin) had two assists to help the Cardinal (9-3) cruise.
