East Coast Conference Commissioner Robert Dranoff announced the addition of new program Chestnut Hill College as an associate member in men’s lacrosse for the 2010 season.
“The opportunity to bring in another developing lacrosse program to our conference is great for Division II lacrosse and for the ECC,” stated Dranoff. “Our presidents, coaches and administrators are all supportive of Chestnut Hill joining the conference for 2010.”
Already established as a men’s lacrosse powerhouse conference with just seven members, the ECC membership will grow to 11 strong in the sport in 2010. The additional expansion will include associate members Wheeling Jesuit and Seton Hill who bring their veteran programs to the conference and full conference member Mercy College who will add the sport during the 2009-10 academic year.
Lake Erie College, like Chestnut Hill, will be in their inaugural seasons and will start their program as an ECC associate member.
“Being affiliated with the premiere conference in Men’s Division II Lacrosse is a tremendous opportunity for the future of our program,” said Richard Carrington, the newly appointed head coach of Chestnut Hill. “Competing against the nation’s best Division II teams will not be an easy task, especially for a first-year program, but I feel that we have recruited the student-athletes who embrace this challenge and are eager to establish an identity for Chestnut Hill men’s lacrosse.”
