From Press Releases

Stephen Brundage has been named an assistant coach for the Princeton University men’s lacrosse team where he will follow Drexel coach Chris Bates.

Brundage served as an assiatnt to Bates the past two years at Drexel. Bates was hifred as the Tigers’ head coach in late June, replacing Bill Tierney. Also on the Drexel staff a year ago and now on the Princeton staff is Greg Raymond, who worked with Tierney before spending last year with Bates.

As he did at Drexel, Brundage will work primarily with the offense at Princeton. The Tigers return two starting attackmen, cousins Chris and Jack McBride, and one starting midfielder, Scott MacKenzie. Princeton also has an army of young players to fill in the positions vacated by graduates Tommy Davis, Mark Kovler and Rich Sgalardi.

Brundage helped the Spano Brothers win the Millard P. Robinson championship this summer in the Lacrosse League of Southeastern PA. He is the second all-time leading scorer at Central New York high school power West Genesee. He was a high school All-America.

Brundage went on to start every game of his four-year career at Loyola, which included a loss to Princeton in the 2001 NCAA quarterfinals. During his time in college, he was a two-time All-America, a team captain and a team MVP. He graduated with a degree in marketing after spending the 2005 season as an undergraduate assistant coach with the Greyhounds.

He then spent three years as a mortgage broker while also playing in Major League Lacrosse for the Chicago Machine. Bates gave him his full-time coaching oppourtunity in 2008 at Drexel.
