Tyler Olsen scored the game-winner with a minute left in overtime after a long outlet by goalie Matt Lerman and a nice pass from Joe Scullin to give host Episcopal Academy a stunning 7-6 triumph over Malvern Prep Thursday, moving EA into first place in the Inter-Ac League.
EA improves to 3-1 in the Inter-Ac and 8-5 overall. The Churchmen, ranked seventh in the PA Media Rankings, were coming off one-goal defeats to No. 2 La Salle and No. 4 St. Joseph’s Prep. Malvern Prep, ranked No. 5, fell to 2-1 in the league and 5-5.
Olsen scored after Lerman (12 saves) made one of many key stops and then sent a 45-yard, over-the-shoulder outlet to a breaking Scullin. Soon the feed went to Olsen who beat Andrew O’Connell.
Cody Isdaner and John Gormley led the Churchmen with two goals each, Chase Growney had two assists and Bob Wassell played strong at the face-off X in the second half as EA came back from an early 3-0 deficit and a late 6-5 deficit. Episcopal also held Malvern off the scoreboard for a five-minute offensive possession late in regulation.
JK Poirier and Bobby Hill each had two goals for the Friars.
Strath Haven 5, Marple Newtown 4
Mike Varga had two goals and an assist and Will Torrence made 16 saves to help the Panthers win the Central League game. Mark Dolphin, Sean McGraw and Pat Fisher also scored for SH.
Dan Giordiano led the Tigers with two goals while Chris Scott and John McKeighan each scored once.
Springfield-Delco 9, Penncrest 3
Colin Keegan had two goals and an assist and Joe Venit scored twice as the Cougars (11-1, 6-1) bounced back from their loss Wednesday to Conestoga. John Cugini had a goal and an assist and Billy McCullough, Bobby Gildea, Larry McLaughlin and Tyler Canada scored once each. Austin Kaut made 12 saves.Mike Belfiglio had two goals for the Lions.
Lower Merion 11, Upper Darby 4
Matt Dilks had six goals and an assist and Jordan Wolf added one goal and four assists while Jack Morrison had two goals for the Aces. Sam Golden won 15 of 18 face-offs. Kevin Fonio had two goals for Upper Darby.
Radnor 9, Ridley 6
Will Lawlor had two goals and one assist and John Dougherty scored two goals as the Red Raiders (10-2, 7-1) claimed the Central League win over the Green Raiders (8-5, 3-3) . Zack Donnelly, Harrison Lawrence and Matt Cherry each had one goal and one assist while Jordan Berstein and Tyler Andersen scored one apiece.
Garnet Valley 11, Haverford 2
Steve Smyrl scored three goals while Steve Selverian and Eric Warden added two apiece for the Jaguars.
Conestoga 12, Harriton 6
The top-ranked Pioneers improved to 12-0 overall and 6-0 in the Central League as Mike Ackerman scored goals and John Lopes, a sophomore goalie, made 6 saves in his first start for varsity.Noah Levin and Rob Schwab each scoreed three goals for the Rams.
Haverford School 16, Chestnut Hill Academy 4
Brent Tomlinson scored four goals and Sam Rohr added a pair as the host Fords (9-6) won their third straight game. Peter Adubato led Chestnut Hill with two goals.

Kenny Maas, Matt Sturgis, Rocco Piliero and Tyler Kroft had two goals each while Taylor Nelson and Robby Fitzgerald had one a piece for the Cougars in the Ches-Mont League win.
Downingtown West 9, Great Valley 5
Jamie Raezor had three goals and Eric Sanders contributed two goals and four assists to lead the Whippets.
The Vanguards (9-3, 4-1) rallied from an 8-7 halftime deficit to claim the Ches-Mont win. Bobby Clemens set a school record for assists with nine and had two goals while Matt Remner had five goals and two assists and Donnie Krausse had four goals. Tyler Brun made 15 saves and Kyle Lord, Zach Hopkins and Josh Lovelace were strong on defense and cause numerous turnovers.

Joe Hughes had three goals and five assists to help the Colonials avenge an early-season Suburban One American loss to the Vikings. Sean McLernan and Colin Joka each added four goals for PW.

Luke Dachowski scored three goals and had five assists while Kevin Sonderschaffer, Conor Searles and Dan Fritch added two apiece for the Golden Hawks.

Julius Mouser had two goals and two assists, Matt Gagnier had two goals and Michael Litner had a goal and three assists while Jack Tanenbaum made 17 saves for the Gators (9-3, 2-0) in the Friends’ Schools League game. Charlie Gaulin and Danny Brown each scored once while Pat Sullivan and Arne Andersen (midfield) led the defense for Shipley.

Emmit Colhane had four goals and four assists for the Phoenix in the Friends’ Schools League defeat.
