Abington’s Kristen Dunphey heads the list of 10 recruits for George Washington’s women’s team.
GW third-year women’s lacrosse head coach Tara Hannaford announced the recruiting class for the 2010 season, highlighted by US Lacrosse First Team All-American Caitlyn O’Brien and honorable mention All-Americans Nicole Lacey and Bridgett Lynn. Also in the group is Logan Healy, a defender from Archmere Academy, Del.
“I am thrilled to welcome this group of student-athletes to GW,” said Hannaford, who led GW to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship in her second season in 2009. “This class embodies what we are looking for in our athletes – speed, strength and attitude. I expect them to make an immediate impact on our program.”

Kristen Dunphey – Midfield – 5-foot-3 – Glenside, PA/Abington
Three-time All-Suburban I League selection … Helped Abington to three consecutive Suburban I League titles … First team All-Suburban I League selection in 2008, second team honoree in 2009 and third team pick in 2007 … 2009 and 2008 US Lacrosse Academic All-American … Member of Ultimate Goal Lacrosse Club (2006-08) … 2007 honorable mention All-Galaxy.
Logan Healy – Defense – 5-foot-8 – Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy
2009 US Lacrosse Academic All-American … Two-time first team All-Diamond State Conference selection (2007, 2009) … Led Archmere Academy to 2009 Diamond State Conference title … Totaled 35 goals and seven assists in
2007, ranks 15th on Archmere’s career points list … Member of Skywalkers ’09 White Lacrosse club team.
Emmy Aras – Midfield/Defense – 5-foot-4 – Annapolis, MD/Severn School
Three-year letterwinner at Severn School … Helped Admirals to Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) Group A title game in 2007 and semifinal appearance in 2008 … Totaled 37 ground balls, 10 draws and seven assists as a senior in 2009 … Named second team All-Galaxy in 2007 as a member of CC Lax club team.
Jess Hicks – Goalkeeper – 5-foot-8 – Brandywine, MD/Calverton School
Two-time first team All-Maryland Independent School Athletic League (MISAL) and All-Calvert County honoree … Calverton School’s 2009 Team MVP … Helped Cougars to 2006 MISAL championship and three straight runner-up finishes (2007-09) … Two-time second team All-Galaxy selection as member of CC Lax club team.
Nicole Lacey – Midfield/Attack – 5-foot-5 – Marriottsville, MD/Marriotts Ridge
2009 US Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American … 2009 US Lacrosse Academic All-American … Two-time first team All-Howard County … 2009 honorable mention All-Met selection by The Washington Post and second team All-Baltimore Metro by DigitalSports … Led Marriotts Ridge in goals and points for two seasons … Played six seasons with Hero’s Lacrosse club team.
Bridgett Lynn – Midfield – 5-foot-8 – Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle
2009 US Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American … 2009 Jefferson District and Region II Player of the Year … First team All-District and All-Region in 2009 … Helped Western Albemarle to Virginia Group AA/AAA quarterfinals in 2009, four consecutive Jefferson District titles (2006-09) and back-to-back Region II championships (2007-08) … 2008 US Lacrosse Academic All-American … Four-year letterwinner and two-year team captain in lacrosse and field hockey … Member of Captial Lacrosse Club.
Hannah McLaughlin – Attack – 5-foot-8 – Centerport, NY/Harborfields
Section XI All-Division II honoree as a senior in 2009 … Honorable mention All-Suffolk County selection in 2007 and 2008 … Harborfields’ 2008 Team MVP … Member of Long Island Yellow Jackets club team from 2002-2008, earning honorable mention All-Galaxy honors in 2008.
Caitlyn O’Brien – Defense/Midfield – 5-foot-8 – Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain
2008 US Lacrosse First Team All-American … Three-time Arizona Girls Lacrosse Association All Star (2007-09) and First Team All-State by AGLA in 2009 … Led AGLA with 47 goals in 2009, totaled 69 draw controls and 30 ground balls in 10 games.
Abby Sneeringer – Attack – 5-foot-4 – Catonsville, MD/Catonsville
2009 second team All-Division I selection and honorable mention All-Baltimore Metro by DigitalSports … Named first team All-Baltimore County and All-Division I in helping Catonsville to Maryland 4A-3A state championship game in 2008 … Played club lacrosse for Hero’s 2009.
Natalie Stella – Defense – 5-foot-8 – Medford, NJ/Shawnee
Paced Shawnee in caused turnovers while leading the Renegades to a 15-4 overall record, Olympic Conference Patriot League title and appearance in NJSIAA South III Sectional Championship game … Played club lacrosse for South Jersey Select.
