Lenape (N.J.) senior goalie Kyle Norton has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Kean University.
Norton, a three-year starter who also plays for the Cherokee team of the Philly-based Duke’s Lacrosse Club, helped Lenape advance to the second round of the Division 4 NJ State Lacrosse Tournament last season. He was named Second Team Olympic Conference for the second straight year and was Honorable Mention All-South Jersey.
Norton also plays for Braveheart Lacrosse. He plans to major in Athletic Training with a minor in Sports Management at Kean.
“I chose Athletic Training as my college major, and intended profession after college because as an Athletic Trainer, I’ll specialize in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating athletic-related illnesses and injuries that result from sports,” Norton said. “I was accepted at several schools that offer Sports Medicine/Athletic Training. But I chose Kean University because the Kean Athletic Training Facility is one of the best equipped centers in the state, if not the nation, with equipment not often seen at the NCAA Division III level.”
Kean went 12-8 and qualified for the ECAC playoffs last year under seven-year coach Shelley Sheiner.
Also from Lenape, midfielder Evan Toepel, another member of the Duke’s Lacrosse Club, has committed to Division III Salisbury.
