The seventh Phillylacrosse.com Scholastic Girls Top 10 Poll:
1. Radnor (16-0) – The Red Raiders, who edged a game Springfield-Delco, 13-12, last week, have a contest at No. 10 Villa Maria Academy Wednesday. Last week: No. 1.
2. Great Valley (13-2) – The Patriots move up to No. 2 with impressive wins over Bayard Rustin (13-8), Phoenixville (17-2) and Upper Dublin (17-4). They host No. 9 Boyertown Wednesday and then Unionville Friday in a key Ches-Mont American game. Last week: No. 3.
3. Bayard Rustin (11-2) – The Golden Knights must defeat a tough Unionville team Thursday to stay even with Great Valley in the Ches-Mont American race. Last week: No. 2.
4. Springfield-Delco (12-3) – The Cougars rebounded from a heartbreaking 13-12 loss to No. 1 Radnor with an 11-5 win over Conestoga. It appears they’ll finish a strong second place to Radnor. Last week: No. 4.
5. Abington (16-0) – The Ghosts can clinch the Suburban One National Conference crown by defeating Council Rock North (home) today and North Penn (away) Thursday. Last week: No. 5.
6. Archbishop Carroll (11-3) – The Patriots edged Unionville, 10-9, Monday as goalie Megan Corliss had eight of her 11 saves in the second half and Olivia Salata and Laura Beck scored three goals each. They gear for a big game at undefeated New Jersey power Shawnee Thursday. Last week: No. 7.
7. Strath Haven (13-3) – The Panthers enjoyed a solid 15-10 win over Downingtown West and host Ridley today in a Central league game. Last week: No. 8.
8. Downingtown West (14-2) – The Whippets can wrap up the Ches-Mont League National Conference crown with a home win today over Henderson. Last week: No. 6.
9. Boyertown (14-2) – The Bears have wrapped up the top seed in the Pioneer Athletic Conference playoffs. The biggest test comes Wednesday at Great Valley. Last week: No. 10.
10. Villa Maria Academy (14-1) – The Hurricanes enter the poll with a 10-game winning streak. How good are they? They host No. 1 Radnor Wednesday; then, we’ll know more. Last week: unranked.
Under consideration: Episcopal Academy, Downingtown East, Merion Mercy, Unionville, Conestoga, North Penn.
