Malvern Prep (No. 1), La Salle (No. 2), Haverford School (No. 3) and Ridley (No. 4) received the top seeds and byes in the opening round of the final Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association (EPSLA) boys’ playoffs.

The brackets – which include 28 teams – were released late Sunday night. Games in the pigtail round are Tuesday; most contests begin at 4 p.m. Winners will play in the first round Friday.

The top-seeded and Inter-Ac League champion Friars (18-2) are ranked first by Phillylacrosse.com as well as in this week’s EPSLA Coaches Poll. La Salle (26-2), the Catholic League champion, is second in both polls. The Fords (15-6), who took second in the Inter-Ac, and third in each poll while the Central League champion Green Raiders (18-2) were fourth in each poll.

Sixth-seeded Downingtown East (13-6), the winner of the Suburban League, is the defending EPSLA champion and the defending Keystone Cup champion. Next year, the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association takes over jurisdiction of all boys’ lacrosse in the state and will sponsor a state championship with one classification.
