Girls’ roundup: Germantown Academy tops Springside School

Kate Henrich scored six goals and Heather Rittenhouse added five to spark host Germantown Academy to a 19-9 rout of Springside School Tuesday in an Inter-Ac league opener.

Olivia Mann added four goals for the Patriots while Amanda Jones had three and Maura McCarthy one. Jones added four assists and Rittenhouse dished off two more while Nora Langan led Springside (1-1) with three goals.

Gabby Gertel (eight saves) and Taylor Houck (seven) split time in goal for GA while Torie Machikas and Sidney Jacobs had three interceptions each to pace the defense.

Tori Roebuck turned aside 12 shots for the Lions. Nicole Lombardo, Leslie Jacobs, Mary Beth Dougherty, Anna Hayne, Sophia Petrillo and Jackie Platt also scored for Springside.

Elsewhere in girls’ action:

Jess Rothstein had four goals and three assists while Allison Zuzelo, Carli Sukonik and Meg Rubenstein added three goals each to lead Harriton to a 14-6 triumph over Jenkintown. Laura Walzer added one goal and Chrissy Pasquariello contributed two assists…Sarah Magnon and Steph Lawall each had four goals and one assist while MaryLee Mahony and Brigid Crane had two goals apiece to lead Villa Joseph Marie to a 14-4 conquest of Nazareth in Catholic Academies League action. Dominique Ponente was strong on defense for VJM while goalies Danielle Behrens (three saves) and Jess Glace (shared time).
