Tonight’s Suburban One girls’ between Hatboro-Horsham and host Central Bucks West will benefit the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure cancer fund in honor of longtime Hatters coach Marie Schmucker.
The game will begin at 7 p.m. at War Memorial Field in Doylestown. Admission is $5 and all proceeds will go to the fund for breast cancer research.
Schmucker, the lacrosse and field hockey coach at Hatboro-Horsham for the past 12 years and a teacher at Keith Valley Middle School, is on a medical leave this season after being diagnosed with breast cancer several months ago.
The H-H team has also been selling “Hatters Hope” T-shirts to raise money for the Komen Foundation. All shirts are $12.
Also, team members will be participating in the Race for the Cure on Mothers Day in Philadelphia. The team name is “Marching for Marie.”
