The Frog Rock Lacrosse Club defeated D&K Appliances, 9-5, in the Championship of the Millard P. Robinson Tuesday Night Lacrosse League at Friends’ Central.

It is the third title in four years for Frog Rock, formerly named MAB Paints and Boston Style Pizza. Frog Rock Lacrosse Club, coached by Bob Mongeluzzi (Penn), is a mixture of high school, college, and club players.

In this year’s championship, undefeated Frog Rock faced a formidable opponent in D&K Appliances, which took it to overtime earlier this summer. Frog Rock jumped out to an early lead as Corey Smith (Upper Dublin/Arizona) scored a behind-the-back goal off of a no-look pass from Bryan McDermott (Penn State).

Frog Rock attackman Marty Kupprion (Episcopal Academy/Delaware) then scored from behind goal line extended on an impressive wrap-around.

D&K Appliances made a run of its own behind midfielders Bryan Tingle (Central Bucks East/Delaware), Matt Dolente (Malvern/Johns Hopkins), Mike Dolente (Spring-Ford/Cabrini) Andrew Mackrides (Malvern/Penn State), and Matthew Mackrides (Malvern/Penn State). Frog Rock face-off man Justin Sabol (UMass) made a valiant effort against the Dolente brothers, each high-successful collegiate face-off specialists.

In goal, Frog Rock was led by Dan Kaufman (Friends’ Central/Lehigh), and the father-son tandem of Dan Altschuler (Lower Merion/UMass) and Hank Altschuler (Lower Merion).

The Frog Rock close defense of Carl Ray (Drexel), Matt Slotman (Drexel), Dan Honeywell (Lehigh), and Dave Biddison (Notre Dame) played consistently in the championship game. Their physical play and intensity was a key factor in the victory. At long-stick midfield, Dan Rauch (Marple Newtown/Rutgers), Jamie Creed (Episcopal Academy/Trinity), Darnell Jones (Widener), Ian Kingsbery (Radnor/Ohio Wesleyan), and Chris Rotanti (Drexel) were aggressive and excelled on groundballs.

Throughout the summer, Frog Rock midfielders Dan Deckelbaum (Delaware), Clint Quedenfeld (Central Bucks West/Widener), Jeff Pfeffer (Drexel) and Dean Granoff (Friends’ Central/Haverford College) were dominant. They continued with another strong performance in the championship game. Late in the game, midfielder Brad Loizeaux (Tatnall/Hofstra) and attackman Eric Warden (Garnet Valley) clinched the victory with goals for Frog Rock.

Frog Rock was assembled by player-coach Chris Fallon (Episcopal Academy/Notre Dame).
