From Press Release

The Colonial Athletic Association announced that the Fairfield University men’s lacrosse program will join the CAA as an associate member. The Stags will begin CAA competition in 2015 with the University of Delaware, Drexel University, Hofstra University, the University of Massachusetts, St. Joseph’s University and Towson University.

“We are thrilled to announce the addition of Fairfield’s men’s lacrosse program to our league,” said CAA Commissioner Tom Yeager. “The Stags have built a tradition of success on the field and in the classroom that will strengthen the caliber and character of our conference. We are excited for them to begin competition in 2015.”

Fairfield completed its eighth season as a member of the ECAC Lacrosse League in 2013 and will compete alongside the Air Force Academy, Bellarmine University, Hobart College, the University of Michigan and The Ohio State University in 2014. The Stags went 8-7 in 2013 and played in the ECAC Tournament for the third time in as many seasons.

“The landscape of Division I lacrosse has been evolving rapidly and we are pleased to be joining the CAA,” said Fairfield Director of Athletics Eugene P. Doris. “The prospect of aligning with these like-minded institutions is a tremendous opportunity to have our lacrosse program compete at the highest national level.”

The Stags have won a combined 20 games over the past two seasons, compiling a program-best 12-4 mark in 2012. Fairfield has spent 16 weeks in the USILA national poll over the last two seasons, climbing as high as No. 13 in both seasons. In head coach Andy Copelan’s five years at the helm, the Stags have gone 43-31 and have finished .500 or better every season, the program’s longest such stretch. Included in those victories is the program’s first-ever win over a No. 1 ranked team – a 10-9 victory over Denver this spring – and a 10-8 win over then ranked No. 3 Notre Dame in 2010.

This past season, the CAA sent a pair of squads in nationally ranked Penn State and league champion Towson to the 2013 NCAA Championship. The league has had multiple teams selected to the NCAA Championship in four of the last five seasons.

From Press Release

Former college lacrosse coach John Brubaker, the award-winning author of The Coach Approach, takes readers on an enlightening and transformational journey to find their purpose and develop their leadership performance in his new book, Seeds of Success: A Leader, His Legacy, and The Lessons Learned. (Sport of Business Publishing; May 2013; $19.95; 978-0-9850671-1-3) www.SeedsofSuccessBook.com

Seeds of Success introduces readers to lacrosse coaching legend Morgan Randall and his protégé a young, emerging leader Jack Burton. The book takes you on a yearlong journey where Coach Randall introduces Jack to a Marine Corps recruiter, a CEO and a minister whom he refers to as the three wise men. These unlikely mentors teach Jack how to become a more authentic leader and show him that life is the curriculum, you are the student and everyone you meet has a lesson to teach.

Through the characters and the lessons in Seeds of Success, readers will acquire new ways to unlock their potential and bring out the best in others, by learning how to:

• Discover your passion, purpose and unique ability
• Focus on the process not the end result
• Develop a life plan on the journey to finding success and fulfillment
• Leave a legacy and make a lasting impact
• Seek the rewards from work, not just the awards at work

Though Seeds of Success is a fictional story, it is based on Brubaker’s relationship with his coaching mentor who died of blood cancer and the setting for the book is the Philadelphia suburbs. With this in mind, the HEADstrong Foundation became a natural charitable partner. The HEADstrong Foundation’s mission is to carry on the legacy and vision of founder Nicholas E. Colleluori through advocating, fundraising and supporting those affected by blood cancers and those working towards eliminating it.

The book is now available at bookstores and online. When you order online at www.CreateSpace.com/4277855 using discount code RHJEADCJ a portion of the proceeds will go to the HEADstrong Foundation.

Praise for Seeds of Success:

“Coach Bru has created another slam dunk with Seeds of Success. It’s a fabulous book with a powerful message. Anyone who reads this will develop a better sense of what it takes to be a leader of significance in life’s journey instead of simply chasing success.” – Paul Biancardi, National Recruiting Director, ESPN Basketball

“John’s powerful message extends far beyond the athletic field. If you’re ready to change your life for the better, then you’re ready for Seeds of Success.” – Jon Gordon, Wall Street Journal bestselling author of The Energy Bus

From Press Release

LaxPower, the world’s leading authority on lacrosse team performance ratings, is pleased to announce the National Coaches/Computer Ratings for high school girls’ lacrosse for the recently completed 2013 spring season.

McDonogh School, Owings Mills (Md.), is LaxPower’s national champion for 2013. The Eagles have repeated as champions for the 4th consecutive time with a 22-0 season and winning their 5th consecutive IAAM-A title. Chris Robinson’s team finished in first place in the coaches’ poll and second in the computer ratings. This is the ninth season in a row that they have finished in the Top 10.

McDonogh has run its unbeaten streak to 91 consecutive games, which is a national record, surpassing Carle Place’s 73 wins in the early 1980s.

Moorestown (#2) won their 20th state championship this spring and finished first in the computer Power Ratings. The Quakers have a 51-game winning streak.

The top five programs in the country for 2013:

#1: McDonogh School, Owings Mills, Maryland (22-0) — IAAM-A title (5th straight)
#2: Moorestown, Moorestown, New Jersey (25-0) — New Jersey state champion (20th time)
#3: St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School, Alexandria, Va. (27-1) – ISL AA & VISAA I champion (7th straight)
#4: St. Anthony’s, South Huntington, New York (17-1) — CHSAA Class AA champion (6th straight)
#5: Mount Sinai, Mount Sinai, New York (20-0) — New York state Class C champion

The final rankings (click here for full rankings) were compiled using LaxPower’s CCR rating formula, which combines the national computer rankings with a national poll. The computer ratings used for the rankings are based on 21,035 game scores for 2,793 high school teams. The poll, for which just the top 40 teams (plus ties) were used, is a product of rankings by 29 high school coaches from around the country. Each of these parameters represents 50% of the final tallied results.

The combined CCR ranking, the computer ratings, the results of the poll voting, the members of the coaches poll panel, and a detailed explanation of the computer formula are available. Results for the Top 25 on each of the components and overall are presented at the bottom of this page.

2013 National Rankings for High School Girls’ Lacrosse

LaxPower congratulates these teams and their players and coaches for an outstanding achievement in 2013 as well as all of the coaches and student-athletes who participated in high school lacrosse this past spring.
