Springfield-Delco senior attackman Joe Venit has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division I lacrosse at St. John’s University.
Venit was a Second Team Central League pick last year for the Cougars, helping them win the league championship while finishing 20-3. Venit scored 48 goals last year and has 108 goals the past two seasons.
Venit’s highlight of the year in 2010 may have come when he scored six goals against Central Bucks East in the first round of the state playoffs. His other top highlight was scoring the game-winner in the fourth overtime in Springfield’s 7-6 thriller over Garnet Valley in the District 1 semifinals.
Also, he had the winning goal against Hatboro-Horsham in the final minutes of the District 1 quarterfinals as the Cougars rallied from a 6-2 second-half deficit and claimed a stunning 7-6 triumph.
Venit, who played for Team Philly in the Under Armour Underclassmen Games during the summer, will join two members of the Cougars 2010 title team: defenseman/LSM Joe Addona and attackman Colin Keegan.
Today is the early signing deadline for seniors to sign Letters of Intent for Division I and II. To submit a signing picture, e-mail us at golax@phillylacrosse.com.
