Scottie White collected five goals and an assist as Malvern Prep defeated Penn Charter, 9-8, Friday in the semifinals of the Inter-Ac League championships at Cabrini College.

The win vaults the second-seeded Friars (14-5) into Monday’s championship (7 p.m.) against No. 1 Haverford School, a 15-9 winner over Episcopal Academy. Penn Charter, the third seed, finished at 10-12.

The Quakers led, 6-5, midway through the third period until White fed Jack Traynor (two goals, one assist) to tie it and then scored himself to make it 7-6. Seamus Glynn made it 8-6 with 4:10 left in the 3rd.

Penn Charter pulled within 8-7, but Traynor scored off a Quinn McCahon assist late in the period. The Quakers cut the lead to 9-8 with four minutes to play, but the Malvern Prep defense held.

Gavin Tygh led Penn Charter with two goals while winning 14 of 19 faceoffs and going over 1,000 career wins at the X (1,012 in all). Ryan Dickson also had two goals.
