Following the first official day of practice ahead of the 2017 season, the conference has announced the results of the inaugural Ivy League Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Media Poll prior to the start of the upcoming season.

Votes were made by two members of each school’s media contingent in addition to one national voter.

Yale was chosen to finish in first place with 84 points and six first-place votes, while Brown also garnered six first place votes and was slotted just two points behind with 82 tallies. The Quakers rounded out the top-3 with 58 points and one first place vote, while Harvard, Cornell, Princeton and Dartmouth rounded out the predicted order of finish. Yale won the 2016 Ivy League Tournament, besting Harvard 14-9 in the championship game held in Providence, R.I.

Penn welcomes 15 newcomers to the roster in 2017 which bolsters the return of 28 upperclassmen, including five All-Ivy honorees and USILA Honorable Mention All-America honoree Connor Keating. The Red and Blue are coming off a 2016 season in which it went 8-7 against a schedule that ranked the 18th-toughest in the country and ended with a one-goal loss to Yale in the Ivy League Tournament semifinal round.

The Quakers open the 2017 season on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Saint Joseph’s in Merion Station, Pa. They’ll return to the friendly confines of Franklin Field for their home opener on Saturday, Feb. 25 when they host Virginia at 1 p.m. Ticket are available to purchase for the Quakers five home games this season by clicking HERE.
