The 2017 Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Hreshko backstopped the Hawks to their best season in the program’s four-year history. He started every game in goal for Monmouth as the team compiled a 14-4 overall record en route to the Hawks’ first MAAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. Monmouth earned its first NCAA Tournament berth as Hreshko was also named First Team All-MAAC.

“We are so proud of Nick and his accomplishments during his time here at Monmouth,” Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Marilyn McNeil stated. “It is an honor to have him recognized by the CAANJ and to have him represent Monmouth as the recipient of this prestigious award.”

Hreshko earned a number of national accolades during his senior season, including being named an Honorable Mention All-American by Inside Lacrosse Magazine. He was a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men’s At-Large First Team for District 9. Hreshko also registered a conference-best 7.14 goals-against average, which was second in the NCAA and was fourth in the country in save percentage at .584.

“Our staff are all happy for Nick and could not be more proud of all that he and his teammates accomplished throughout their time together at Monmouth,” head coach Brian Fisher said. “From the passion in which he competed with every day on the field, to his work ethic in the classroom, to his selfless leadership style; Nick embodies all that is great about what it truly means to be a student-athlete and the award today and all of his accolades are well deserved.”

In the classroom, Hreshko was a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection who graduated with a 3.95 cumulative grade-point average as a Business Administration major. Hreshko was Monmouth’s 2017 Kelsey Award winner, which is awarded to the Monmouth student-athlete with the highest individual grade-point average. He was also the Bill Boylan Award winner, presented annually to the senior student-athlete who demonstrates the traits of leadership, sportsmanship, scholarship and athletic ability that were so constant in the career of Bill Boylan.

Hreshko’s recognition marks the second time a Monmouth male student-athlete has earned the award. Men’s tennis player Steve Suboleski was honored in 2010.
