Fusion prides itself on putting forth one of the most elite coaching staff’s in the country year after year. Fusion is excited to announce each teams coaching staff for the 2017/2018 season. Your chance to work with this amazing group starts the weekend of August 18th.

Bios Alphabetical

Kevin Crowley: Kevin, a Fusion co-founder, is one of the most decorated lacrosse players in the world. Kevin graduated from Stoney Brook University where he was a Tewarraton finalist and the nations best midfielder. Kevin was the first draft pick in both professional lacrosse leagues, the only time that has ever been done. Coach Crowley won the MLL MVP award in 2013 and won a World Championship for Team Canada in 2015. Coach Crowley’s professional playing career conflicts with him being an official head coach of a team but is a regular at all practices and tournaments and helps with all players in the program as an assistant coach.

Alex Haynie: Alex is one of the most prolific scorers to ever come out of the Inter-Ac League. Alex still hold numerous scoring records at Germantown Academy. Alex was a high level performer at Princeton University during his four years there. Son of legendary coach Ted Haynie, Alex is one of the smartest and skilled teachers in the area. Currently Alex leads the middle school teams at Malvern Prep where he also teaches.

Eric Hoffman: Eric is a local product from Pennridge High School and would still be paying professional lacrosse today if not for some unfortunate knee injuries. Eric spent a few seasons with both the Philadelphia Barrage and Wings. Eric was the defensive coordinator at Swarthmore College and currently runs the entire strength and conditioning center at Ursinus College.

Steven Holmes: Steve is a Fusion Co-Founder and has spent 16 seasons as a professional in both Major League Lacrosse and the National Lacrosse League. Holmes graduated as a Captain at the University of Virginia and has been a career coach since. Highlights included a stint as an assistant at UVA winning a national championship in 2011. Most recently Holmes was the defensive coordinator at Malvern Prep for 5 seasons including a perfect 24-0 record in 2014.

Dan Layfield: Dan grew up in up-state New York and was a multi-sport star. He moved onto Drexel University where he had a standout career as a powerful midfielder. Coach Layfield spent a couple years at HEADstrong lacrosse club before moving over to Fusion. Currently, Coach Layfield leads the helm as Wissahickon High School’s head coach.

Matthew McCormick: Matt was recently inducted into Drexel University’s 75th anniversary team as one of its all-time players. Matt is currently the defensive coordinator at Malvern Prep, his alma-mater, as well as the director of operations at Fusion. Matt has previously coached at Penn Charter and was a grad assistant at Drexel.

Kevin Philibin: Kevin is going on his third year as head coach at West Chester Rustin HS. A graduate of South Carolina, Kevin was a four year stand-out defenseman. Previously Kevin was the defensive coach for Unionville HS and has been coaching at Fusion since their inception. Coach Philibin lends his expertise as recruiting coordinator at Fusion.

Alex Turner: Alex grew up in British Columbia and starred in the WLA box league before breaking into the professional ranks. Alex was a lefty goal scorer for 8 years in the National Lacrosse League. Coach Turner works with our 2019s in field lacrosse and works with all of our teams as a box lacrosse specialist. Coach Turner also works with highly regarded Tri-State Lacrosse Club.

Luke Wiles: Luke grew up in Orillia, Canada and starred as both a hockey and box lacrosse player. His skills were so superb he earned a full scholarship to the University of Delaware while only having minimal field lacrosse experience. Coach Wiles was a star in the National Lacrosse league earning All-Star status 3 times in his career and amassing over 450 career points. Currently Coach Wiles is the Head Coach at Archbishop Carroll High School where he was Catholic League Coach of the Year in his first year.
