The University of Findlay women’s lacrosse team – led on defense by Natalie Fury (Interboro) – was picked to finish fifth in the D2 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) this season as the league office unveiled their annual preseason poll on Thursday.
The Oilers received 26 points in the poll. Grand Valley State was picked as the favorite after receiving 49 points and seven first place votes.
The Oilers finished last season with a 12-8 record. They advanced to the GLIAC Championship for the first time in school history and took runner-up honors. Senior Kyra Bradley is back to lead the team after scoring a team-high 55 goals in 2016. She also led the team with 70 points and was a second team all-conference pick.
Junior defender Fury returns to lead the Findlay defense after earning second team all-league honors last season. She grabbed 24 ground balls and finished second on the team with 42 draw controls while adding 11 caused turnovers.
