Bryn Athyn men’s lacrosse team hosting special Philly All-Star exhibition Saturday

The Bryn Athyn men’s lacrosse team, under head coach Tucker Durkin, will host an exhibition on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. when it hosts a team comprised of many Philadephia standouts from high school, college, and currently Major League Lacrosse (MLL) active players, as well as former Johns Hopkins players.

Bryn Athyn will face a team that features Head Coach Tucker Durkin’s former high school teammates from La Salle College. Standouts include Peter Schwartz (Harvard), Jack Forster (Penn State), Westy Hopkins (Notre Dame), Rob Forster (Penn State), Mike Noone (Lehigh), Tyler Houchins (Drexel), Jack Bogorowski (Lehigh), Derek Bogorowski (Lehigh), Mike Donohoe (Albright) and Kevin Forster (St. Joseph’s).

The former college stars club also will feature some of Durkin’s former Hopkins teammates, including former All Americans Chris Ligthner, Pierce Bassett, John Ranagan, Rob Guida and Mike Poppleton.

Durkin, who helped lead La Salle to the state titles in 2008 and 2009 (Phillylacrosse.com Player of the Year) and was a multi-year All-American and NCAA Defenseman of the Year at Johns Hopkins, is now an All-MLL player for the Florida Launch and a Team USA defenseman who also coaches with the Duke’s Young Guns and Duke’s L.C.

Bryn Athyn enters the season favored to finish in 4th place in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The Lions finished last season 9-5 and 5-3 in conference action and made their first appearance in the playoffs. Bryn Athyn return both of their first team all conference attackman and midfielder, Nolan Frame and Ryan Landels.

Frame was named First Team all-conference at attack for finishing the season with 44 goals, which led the NEAC. He was third in the conference with 56 points, adding 12 assists to offensive dominance. He picked up 21 ground balls and caused six turnovers.

Landels was also named to First Team all-conference at the midfield position. He completed the season fourth in goals in the conference with 36 and 20 assists for 56 points. He also tied for third in the conference in overall points. He picked up 24 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers.
