From Press Release
For the first time since the 2013 season, West Chester has been picked to finish first in the PSAC lacrosse coaches’ preseason poll.
The Golden Rams (1-0) look to make their 16th consecutive appearance in the PSAC postseason, winning eight PSAC titles during that span. Leading the Golden Rams is returning 2015 All-PSAC First Team selection Ashley Pyle (Garnet Valley). Pyle led the team in scoring last year, recording 41 goals and 31 assists. Along with Pyle, West Chester returns three other All-PSAC selections in midfielder Erin Eckert, attacker Dina Cifelli, and defender Mckayl Novak.
Seton Hill was selected No. 2 and received one first place vote. Two-time All-PSAC Second Team selection Emily Fagan will look to guide the Griffins back to the PSAC Playoffs after falling in the semifinals to eventual PSAC Champion Lock Haven. Fagan was third on the team in scoring last season with 52 goals and 22 assists. Seton Hill will also look to All-PSAC midfielder Keagan Pontious, who was second in the league last season in draw controls with 103, while also picking up 46 ground balls.
The current No. 8 team in the nation voted on by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and the 2015 PSAC Champions Lock Haven were selected to finish third in the PSAC lacrosse preseason poll after receiving three first place votes. The Bald Eagles return two All-PSAC selections in defender Jenna Dingler and attacker Shannon Bissnette. Bissinette led the team in assists last season with 52. Dingler will look to lock down the Bald Eagles defense after picking up 39 grounds balls and causing 25 turnovers in last years championship run.
Mercyhurst, the No. 13 ranked team in the nation, was picked to finish fourth and received the final two first place votes. The Lakers return four starters from last year’s PSAC runner-up team, including two All-PSAC selections: Christa Morrison and Emily Koestler. Morrison and Koestler will look to hold down the Lakers defense after combining for 36 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers last season.
