Five Syracuse student-athletes have been recognized by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for their work in the classroom. Rising seniors Haley McDonnell, Kaeli O’Connor and Devon Parker join recent graduates Kelly Cross (Upper Dublin) and Allie Murray (Downingtown East) on the 2016 IWLCA Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll.
The Academic Honor Roll recognizes juniors, seniors and graduate students who maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or better. Overall, student-athletes from 96 institutions earned the honor this season.
Cross’s honor caps a standout season which saw her collect 30 goals and 5 assists as well as 18 groundballs and 17 caused turnovers. Cross and the Orange went all the way to the Final Four in Philly this year as Syracuse went 19-6 before bowing to Maryland in the semifinals. Cross’s highlight was scoring the game-winner in a 12-11 win over USC in the NCAA quarterfinals at Syracuse.
Murray spent this 2016 season at Syracuse as a fifth-year senior after playing three years at Notre Dame. Murray finished 18-6 with 120 saves this year.
