From Press Release
Four Marquette University men’s lacrosse players earned distinction as USILA All-Americans, the organization announced Saturday morning of championship weekend in Philadelphia.
Liam Byrnes was named to the second team as a long-stick midfielder, while fellow graduate student and defensive partner B.J. Grill was named to the third team along with short-stick defensive midfielder Jacob Richard (Henderson). Junior Ryan McNamara earned honorable mention.
Richard, a senior short-stick defensive midfielder, was second among all Golden Eagles with 63 ground balls this season and was second to Byrnes all-time at MU with 193 in his career. He was a fourth-round MLL draft pick of the N.Y. Lizards and is expected to make his pro debut in the coming weeks.
Richard helped Marquette reach the NCAA tourney for the first time where it fell to eventual champion North Carolina, 10-9, in a thrilling matchup that came down to the wire in front of a record crowd of 2,053 at Valley Fields.
