From Press Release
The Marist women’s lacrosse program, led by head coach Jessica O’Brien, has hired Nicole Troost (Shawnee) as an assistant coach for the 2017 season.
“Adding Nicole to our staff will help continue the growth of our attacking unit,” O’Brien said. “She will bring a new offensive perspective, an impressive work ethic and an overall high standard of play. Nicole’s impressive playing career, alongside her responsibilities as an attacker, will undoubtedly translate into the leadership we need for our offense. I know she will be a strong communicator and will help in the natural transition of our team, as well as with the speed of the new shot clock for this season.”
Troost comes to Poughkeepsie with three years of coaching experience at the club level. She served under head coach K.C. Knobloch, helping lead the South Jersey Select.
During her collegiate playing days at University of Massachusetts Amherst, Troost was an Atlantic 10 All-Tournament Team selection as a junior and broke out offensively her senior year to earn a spot on the All-Conference First Team. Despite missing part of her final season due to injury, she tied for the team lead with 42 goals for the Minutewomen.
A three-time All-County, All-South Jersey, All-State, and All American recipient at Shawnee, Troost is also the program’s all-time leading scorer with 220 goals.
Troost earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from University of Massachusetts in 2016. She is originally from Medford, New Jersey.
