Alyssa Long profile:
High School: Springfield-Delco
Graduation Year: 2020
College Committed to: University of North Carolina
Club affiliation: Phantastix
Academic Honors: Distinguished Honor Roll all 3 years at ETR Middle School
What will you major in/study? Undecided
Why did you choose the school? “I wanted to play for a top Division 1 program that has a chance to compete for an NCAA Championship and is strong academically. UNC gives me the opportunity to do both. When I visited the campus and met with Coach (Jenny) Levy and Coach (Phil) Barnes, I felt right at home and I knew it was the place for me. They both stress the importance of family, teamwork and grit. I couldn’t see myself anywhere else and I knew I wanted to be a Tar Heel.”
HS team’s outlook for 2017 season? “I am looking forward to my Freshman year and competing for playing time at the high school level and doing whatever I can to help the team compete in the Central League.”
Thank You: “I would like to thank my parents and my brother Kyle for supporting me in everything I do. I would like to thank my coaches in many different sports who have pushed me to become a better athlete. I would also like to thank Coach JoAnn Yusko for giving me the opportunity to play for Phantastix and for her support & guidance through the recruiting process. Finally, I would like to thank Coach Levy and Coach Barnes for giving me this opportunity, I am looking forward to being a part of UNC’s Lacrosse program and competing in the ACC.”
Other schools considered: Penn State, Louisville
