This is one of a series of previews for the 2016 Philly lacrosse season

League: Suburban One National Conference

Last year’s record: League record 14-2 (Suburban A and Suburban N) / 14-5 overall

Assistant coaches: Casey Kellogg, Jamie Wesztergom, Alex Menghetti

Key returners: Sam McGee, Junior, Attack/ Casey McCallister, Junior, Attack/ Emma Garg, Senior, Midfield/ Maddie Sjoholm, Junior Defender, Mikki Raymond, Senior, Midfield/ Rachel Morris, Senior, Midfield/ Jordan Campbell, Junior, Defender, Juliana Greco, Junior, Attack

Others to watch: Abby Thomas, Freshman, Attack/ Sam Simon, Freshman, Midfield/ Becca Gable, Freshman, Defense/ Cathy Staerk, Junior, Midfield

Coach’s Outlook: “Abington’s strengths will lie in its veteran heavy roster this year. They are battle tested and unsatisfied with the way 2015 ended. The question marks will lie in our newcomers. Who will rise to the challenge and be key contributor’s in big games, early? The 2016 Abington slate showcases the defending state champs Garnet Valley, as well as Central League foes Haverford and Radnor respectively. The Ghosts will look to use these teams to prepare them for the stingy Suburban One conference and beyond. With a new staff, new system and some new faces, the galloping ghosts will look to reinvent themselves in 2016.”

Archbishop Carroll

League: Catholic League

Coach: Lorraine Beers (17th year)

Last year’s record: 18-2, won 15th straight Catholic League title and District 12 crown, advanced to PIAA tournament for seventh straight year

Key returnees: Samantha Swart and Meghan Matey

Coach’s Outlook: “We are a young team that will work hard on improving each day.”
