Zack Augustine had three goals and an assist and Andrew Spencer posted seven saves for a rare shutout as visiting Avon Grove clinched an outright Ches-Mont League championship tonight with a 10-0 win over West Chester East.

The Devils (15-1) finished 10-0 in the league and will receive either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the District 1 tournament, which uses the LaxPower Rankings to determine seeding.

West Chester East closed at a solid 7-3 in the Ches-Mont and 13-5 overall.

Doug Jones had two goals and an assist and Jake Smith scored twice for Avon Grove, which won its final 15 games after opening with a loss to Spring-Ford. Brendan Harmon and Robert Amanto each had a goal and two assists and Carson Peck scored once.

“This is a special group of kids that believe in each other and want to win for each other,” said Avon Grove coach Eric Jackson. “From seniors to freshman, these guys play together.

“This (Ches-Mont title) was one of our goals for the season and I know these guys want to keep staying together as long as we can.”
