Brown adds Hondros (Episcopal Academy), Fryer (@AISowls) in Class of 2020

Brown women’s lacrosse head coach Keely McDonald ’00 is pleased to announce the addition of 10 student-athletes set to join the program’s roster for the 2017 season. The Bears’ class of 2020 includes four midfielders, three defenders, two attack and one goalie.

Six different states represent the class of freshmen as New York boasts three rookies while Pennsylvania and Massachusetts each have two newcomers. Connecticut, New Jersey and Texas are also represented in this year’s class with one student-athlete.

Emily Fryer
Hometown: Bryn Mawr, Pa.
High School: Agnes Irwin

Height: 5-6
Position: Defense
Fryer Facts: Recorded 259 draw controls, 195 ground balls, 73 caused turnovers, 50 goals and 43 assists in her career … Named All-Phillylacrosse.com First Team, All-American, All-Main Line First Team and All-Inter-Ac First Team in 2016 … Recipient of the Coaches Award in 2016 and the Excellence Award in 2015 … Earned Academic All-American honors in 2015.
Why Brown?: “My favorite thing about Brown is the people. From the minute I stepped on campus, I noticed a warmth and openness from all the students and faculty. The open curriculum was also a big factor and the lacrosse program was so welcoming.”

Julia Hondros
Hometown: Villanova, Pa.
High School: Episcopal Academy

Hondros Facts: Selected to Inside Lacrosse Women’s Top Incoming Freshmen Watch List … Named Named High Honorable Mention All-Phillylacrosse Player of the Year and All-Phillylacrosse.com First Team, First Team All-America … Recorded 60 goals, 10 assists, 113 draw controls, 25 ground balls, 24 caused turnovers and three interceptions as a senior … Selected First Team All-Inter-Ac (2015, 2016) and First Team All-Delco … Two-time Academic All-America (2015, 2016).

Maggie Bigelow
