The Chatham University Athletics Department has named Alyssa Batty (Central Bucks West grad, assistant coach at Quaker City Lacrosse) as the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach of its new women’s lacrosse team that is expected to make its debut in the 2017-18 season.Alyssa Batty

Batty comes to Chatham after previously spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Illinois Wesleyan University. During her time at IWU, Batty helped the Titans reach their first ever conference championship, and improve an overall record of 7-9 in their first season as a program to 15-4 this past year. Before Batty landed at IWU, she spent one season as a volunteer assistant coach at Division I Delaware State University. Currently, Batty also works with Quaker City Lacrosse Club which is originally out of Philadelphia.

Before Batty began her coaching career, she had an outstanding career as a player. She was a 4-year starting goalie at Wesley College in Delaware, and upon graduation she had broken the school records for most saves in a season and most saves in a career. Entering her senior season, the NCAA recognized Alyssa has one of the top five returning Division III players in the nation. During her 2013 season, she would earn 2nd team All-Capital Conference.

Alyssa has many goals for the new women’s lacrosse program at Chatham, but the ultimate goal is to provide a positive and comfortable learning environment where her student-athletes can strive on and off the field. “On the field, Chatham Women’s Lacrosse will become a dominate team within the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference within the first few years, and off the field our program will make academics, community service, and school pride a major priority.”

Batty is extremely honored to be selected as the first Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Chatham University.

“Thank you to Athletic Director Leonard Trevino, Vice President of Student Affairs/Dean of Students Zauyah Waite, and all of the coaches for this extraordinary opportunity.” Alyssa would also like to thank the Head Coach from IWU Lindsey Rosecrans, Coach Jillian Lontz from Delaware State, and Coach George Dick from Quaker City Lacrosse Club for being true role models within her coaching career.

Batty also served as a volunteer assistant at Harriton High under coach Dick.

Chatham will join current Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) members Saint Vincent, Thiel, Thomas More, Washington & Jefferson, and Westminster as members of the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference that also includes lacrosse playing schools from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
