The Arcadia University women’s lacrosse team ranks fourth in the MAC Commonwealth Preseason Coaches’ Poll with 39 points. The announcement comes from the conferenced office following a vote from the league’s head coaches.
The Knights advanced to the semifinals of the MAC Commonwealth Championship following an 11-6 regular season that brought a 4-4 conference mark. As the fourth seed, the Scarlet and Grey took down fifth-seeded Albright in the play-in game before falling to top-ranked Messiah in the semifinals. Including an ECAC Championship Tournament semifinal berth, the Knights finished last season 13-8.
Arcadia returns its top to point-getters from a year ago in seniors Adeline Bellesheim and Dawn Faranetta. Bellesheim posted a team-high 70 points as she netted 43 goals and handed out a team-best 27 assists. Faranetta’s 66 points came on a team-high 44 goals and 22 assists. Senior Jordyn Dunacusky returns between the pipes after posting an 11-6 a year ago.
Defending conference champion Messiah was unanimously selected number one with eight first place votes for 67 points; Stevenson (57 points) and Lebanon Valley (49 points) round out the top three.
Arcadia opens the season on February 27 against Marywood.
