HEADstrong Foundation™ 5th annual Limelight Gala, recognizing groundbreaking achievements in research, honoring inspiring stories of hope, celebrating survivorship and remembering those who have lost their battle with blood cancer. The event will be held at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing (formerly the Hyatt Regency) located at 201 South Christopher Columbus Boulevard; from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Tickets are $250 per seat. In addition, HEADstrong is offering a Young Professionals ticket for guests ages 21-30. The black-tie optional event will include a silent auction and a spectacular dinner program featuring a special live performance, world-class entertainment, an award presentation concluded by dancing to celebrate the life and legacy of HF Founder Nicholas “HEAD” Colleluori, the Ridley High graduate and student-athlete at Hofstra University.
This year, television host and broadcast journalist Dawn Stensland, best known for her career of anchoring the news in Philadelphia and currently the host of WMCN-TV’s Dawn, will serve as emcee for the occasion. Proceeds from the Lime Light Gala will support Nick’s House™, a facility operated by the HEADstrong Foundation™ which provides complimentary lodging to displaced families traveling to Philadelphia for blood cancer related treatment and the Nicholas E. Colleluori Lymphoma Research Fund at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania under the direction of Stephen J. Schuster, MD.


The public is welcome to attend the “Wrestling with Concussions” seminar on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Shipley School’s Yarnell Gym from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. This presentation and discussion on sports safety and concussions will feature Chris Nowinski, co-founder and executive director of Sports Legacy Institute, and author of “Head Games”; and Mick Foley, former WWE champion and former Harvard University All-Ivy League football player. Foley is a former Ward Melville HS (NY) goalie who became a three-time WWE champion and Hall of Fame inductee, actor, comedian and New York Times bestselling author.


Team 302 summer team tryouts for grade levels 2016-to-2021 on Feb. 15 and 22 at Delaware Stadium. This Sunday’s times and location have been changed due to the severe cold expected this weekend. Positions are open for summer 2015. Players it is highly recommended that players attend both tryout dates. Current players do not have to try out but will be practicing in Delaware stadium with your designated graduation class on these two dates.

A special Phillie Elite youth tryout will be held during the annual Preseason Training with LB3 Lacrosse on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Shipley School. The clinic will be held at the Shipley School main campus turf fields in Bryn Mawr from 1 to 3:30 and is open to players aged 8 to 18 of all abilities and from any club program. The clinic also will serve as an additional tryout opportunity for spots on the youth Phillie Elite LB3 teams. Interested players can contact coach J.P. Banks at

NXT Youth and NXT Bandits supplemental tryouts for limited openings on both clubs on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Main Line Sports Center in Berwyn. NXT Youth has openings in grades 3-7, while the Bandits have openings in grades 3-10. NXT Youth and NXT Bandits’ summer program includes more than 10 practices at Episcopal Academy and Springside Chestnut Hill, respectively, to go along with four events.

Old School coaches have played at the highest levels and support the “teach first” mission of the club, that is why Coach John Nostrant selected some of the best teaching coaches in the region as well as select college players who support our mission. We are a player centered club in which each player is given the opportunity to excel athletically and academically in order to be prepared for the next level of their playing career while having a realistic picture of where they fit in the college scene. Youth Clinics

Malvern Prep Spring Lacrosse Clinics, K through 4, geared to the beginner- intermediate player. Our staff will focus on making each day fun surrounded with fundamentals and a positive learning environment. Each player will progress through daily fundamental station work as well positional drills.

Maplezone Sports Institute’s Lacrosse Faceoff Clinic with USA FO standout Greg Gurenlian
(Springfield-Delco, Penn State) from The Faceoff Academy. The event, for boys all ages, will be held on Sunday, February 22 at Maplezone Sports Institute Fieldhouse on 1451 Conchester Highway.

Players will focus on: the basics of faceoffs as well as advanced techniques and strategies used at the faceoff X. Players will also be instructed on wing play, shooting on the run, setting up the 4 on 3 break, as well as effective transferring (substituting) through the box. The clinic will maximize the amount of live reps each athlete takes against different styles and skill levels. This clinic will provide each participant an opportunity to learn from the best while developing the following core techniques:
Stance, Moves, Counters, Groundball Work, Wing Play, Stickwork, Shooting (ie. on the run), Lacrosse IQ

Annual Preseason Training with LB3 Lacrosse on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Shipley School. The event, always scheduled for the weekend before the start of the opening of the PIAA spring season, features elite instruction from the best of the LB3 team, including founder Liam Banks, Scott Ratliff, J.P. Banks (Upper Dublin head coach) and Mark Duncan (Shipley head coach).
The event will be held at the Shipley School main campus turf fields in Bryn Mawr from 1 to 3:30 and is open to players aged 8 to 18 of all abilities and from any club program.
The training will focus on stick skills and improving lacrosse IQ as well as may other key skills to provide the high school or youth player the needed tools to make a mark when practice begins.

The director is LB3 founder Liam Banks, the 2001 Final Four MVP and NCAA champion for the Syracuse Orange and a graduate of famed Ward Melville High on Long Island.
The mix of coaches and lacrosse instruction will appeal to older and younger players. The focus is on basic skills in the framework of a winning lacrosse attitude.

Goalie Schools

E20 Elite Goalie School for goalies in the graduation years 2017, 2018 & 2019, run by Brian “Doc” Dougherty and Drew Adams. Twenty goalies from each graduation year will be hand selected by “Doc”, Drew and their staff to attend this invite only overnight camp. The E20 Elite Goalie School will take place on July 6th through July 9th on the beautiful campus of Bryn Athyn College, located just outside of Philadelphia. Players will be housed in brand new suites that include kitchens, washer/dryers and most importantly air conditioning. Goalies will be challenged daily by shots from a select group of top offensive players supplied by E20’s partner the American Indoor Lacrosse Association. The shooters will be invited based on their performance at the AILA’s weeklong box training and outdoor shooting camp, which also takes place at Bryn Athyn College on the same week.
Goalies will receive personal training by some of the best goalies to ever play the game. E20’s staff consists of All-World goalie Dougherty (Chestnut Hill College head coach, Episcopal Academy grad), current USA National Team member, New York Lizards and MLL All Star goaltender Adams (Springfield-Delco, Penn State), former Penn State keeper and First Team All American Austin “Sparky” Kaut and former Maryland’s First Team All American Niko Amato. All four goalies have earned multiple All-American statuses at their respected universities.

Spring Tournaments

Battle of Fort Washington Lacrosse Tournament, hosted by the Upper Dublin Boys Crooked Crosse Lacrosse Club, Saturday, March 7 & Sunday, March 8, at the SPARK all weather fields in Upper Dublin. The Battle of Fort Washington Tournament will host boys youth lacrosse teams from across the Tri-State area. The tournament will consist of four boys divisions including A1 & A2 (7/8th grade – U15) and B1 & B2 (5/6th grade – U13) teams. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 2 games with 25 minute running halves. The A Divisions will be played Saturday, March 7th with B Division playing on Sunday, March 8th. This preseason event will take place on two all weather turf fields. This tournament is geared toward teams looking to get a fast start to their season, serving as a great opportunity for boys to play equally matched teams in the Tri-State area and prepare for their upcoming Spring season. The 14th annual Coventry Chester County Spring Thaw Boys Lacrosse Tournament for U11, U13 and U15 teams, March 21-22 on the newly renovated Owen J. Roberts High School turf fields. U15A, U15B, and U13A teams will play Saturday. U13B, U11A and U11B teams will play Sunday. Click here to register.

EVANFEST is an all-volunteer foundation that provides money and support to families that have a child battling a life-threatening illness. More than $800,000 has been raised in eight years to honor the spirit of Evan Brady, a talented lacrosse player who lost his life to bone cancer shortly after graduating from Malvern Prep in 2005.

The Chapter Challenge™, a youth lacrosse festival for boys and girls that will features good competition, camaraderie and sportsmanship on the pristine and spacious grounds of the Brandywine Polo Club in Chester County. All teams will play 3 games with certified officials on professionally-staged tournament fields in a festive setting. Athletic trainer(s) and an AED will be on site, as will an assortment of food/merchandise vendors. The event will be run by Heritage Lacrosse, which operates the Liberty Lacrosse Shootout™, Patriot Games™, The Match™ and other popular events.
Support the PLA: The Chapter Challenge™ is pleased to support the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association, the local chapter of US Lacrosse that promotes the game and provides programs and services to members of the lacrosse community in Eastern Pennsylvania.
THE CHALLENGE: As a key component of the “Challenge,” teams can help the PLA in two ways (they are not mandatory but we hope teams will support some worthy objectives): Challenge Partners: Each team is asked to make a contribution to the PLA (this is in addition to the registration fee and will inure entirely to the benefit of the PLA). The team can make the donation itself or arrange for a business or sponsor to make the donation to the PLA as the team’s “Challenge Partner.” Any donation is appreciated. All contributors and Challenge Partners will be recognized for their support on the Chapter Challenge™ and PLA websites and in a press release before and after the event; AND/OR
Stick Donations / HEADstring™ Initiative: Each team is asked to organize a used stick collection drive and to bring/donate the sticks to the event for drop off.

Liberty Lacrosse Shootout, June 6/7 at the GCVSA Line Road Complex and The Phelps School in Malvern. Over 100 boys’ recreational and club teams and 2500 youth players are expected to participate in one of most popular events of the season. The Shootout is a fun way to punctuate the recreation season. This year, travel clubs are invited to start their 2015 summer campaigns at the Shootout too (club brackets will be organized by graduation year). Your teams are invited to join in the fun, the tradition, and an atmosphere in which the pressure of competition is never more than the pleasure of competition. F4 Lacrosse’s Philly Kickoff Classic, June 13-14, West Chester University, each division plays on the 13th OR the 14th of June. American Revolution Middle School Invitational, July 13-14, at Maple Zone Sports Institute’s new outdoor complex in Aston. The event is for boys’ teams in the 2020, 2021, 2022 age classes and limited to 10 clubs. The games will be 22 minute running games with 5 minute halftime; each age group playing one game at a time, intimate environment for coaches, athletes, and parents, all games played on synthetic turf fields. Games will be professionally filmed and made available for purchase, five game guarantee. Teams will play three pool games Monday and two seeded games Tuesday with the possibility of playing in a championship game. E-mail if interested.

Morey’s Piers Beach Lacrosse Tournament, for youth, high school and college teams on July 18-19 in the heart of the Wildwood beaches, N.J. This tournament gives lacrosse players of all ages a chance to enjoy the game in a new and exciting way. Teams from all over the East Coast and beyond compete on the beaches of Wildwood as well as enjoy the waterparks and beach during the day and the famous Wildwood boardwalk and amusements in the evening. Games are 5v5, 4 field players plus a goalie, with a maximum of 10 players per team. Each game will have two 18-minute halves with a 4-minute break. Each team will play a minimum of 3 games. Divisions will run from Boy’s & Girl’s U8 – U18, Men’s & Women’s Open. Beach Lacrosse is played with NO SHOES (except goalies).
Wristbands are valid for access to Raging Waters Waterpark and Ocean Oasis Waterpark and Beach Club, plus the amusement rides on all 3 Amusement Piers (daily wristband restrictions apply: go carts, SkyScraper, SkyCoaster, Climbing wall, Screamin’ Swing, High Flyer and Springshot are not included) all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday during operating hours. 8th Annual Patriot Games, July 18-19, by Heritage Lacrosse, at three sites in beautiful Bucks County, PA, featuring 22 fields in total. The Patriot Games Lacrosse Showcase is a popular boys’ lacrosse tournament held every July at venues in the heart of beautiful and historic Bucks County, Pennsylvania – a convenient forum at the crossroads of major lacrosse hotbeds, including Maryland, New England, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The event attracts the top club teams looking to test themselves against a diverse field of elite programs from other regions and to punctuate their summer travel season with a grand finale. The event features teams from traditional hotbeds on the East Coast as well as talented contingents from Canada and emerging regions of the country, including California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin and Washington. Past events have also included “Bridge” programs from Baltimore and Philadelphia. The Patriot Games has been selected by NDP Lacrosse as an “Approved Qualifying Event” for the Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions, which will take place outside of Tampa in January 2015. Top finishing teams in selected divisions will earn bids to join other top club teams from around the nation to compete in the high profile, national championship event. The brackets and divisions are organized by graduation year (i.e. 2015 – 2023 will have AA & A Divisions). Goalie Championships

GUARDIAN National Goalie Championship, July 27-30, Spooky Nook, Manheim (Lancaster) PA. This event will showcase and celebrate the best goalies nation-wide in a National Championship and will measure them based on the unique and patented Goaltender rating and classification system (GRC) for recruiting opportunities. Youth programming

Fusion Futures year-round development instruction is a program designed by Fusion Lacrosse, for grades 3rd-6th. Futures mimics the Fusion Elite platform, with development and elite instruction at its core. Enrollment is OPEN. Year-round experience: Futures participates in fall training and tournaments, winter training and tournaments, and summer training and tournaments.
