The Quaker City Lacrosse Club coaches and trains middle and high school tournament teams (grades 1 through 12). The club is coached by the staff of the 2013 PIAA State Championship Girls Lacrosse program Harriton HS . Our Coaches have played at Brown, Temple, George Mason, Duke, Lehigh, Ohio State, Cornell, Old Dominion, Pomona, Mary Washington, and Haverford College. Our strong belief is that you need to practice to get better. We are not just a club that practices a few times in the summer and goes to tournaments. For our current HS level teams, we have held over 30 practices and our MS school girls have practiced close to 30 times. We also coach our teams in a winter league and the middle school teams in a fall league.

Fall Tournaments

The 2nd Annual ‘Stoga 5v5 Lax Fest (http://www.stogalaxfest.com/), which will feature youth clinic sessions and an afternoon of small-sided round robin games, Conestoga High on Oct 4. The Lax Fest will be staged in a fun and festive setting with dance contests, skills competition, food, refreshments, vendors, prizes and other fun activities! This year, the event will help raise money for the Fighting Back Scholarship Program and its Peter Kienzle Fund in particular. Fighting Back is an organization based in Malvern that assists individuals who are recovering from a life-changing illness or injury and are without the finances needed to participate in a rehabilitative exercise program. The Kienzle Fund was established in memory of Peter Kienzle, a cherished member of the Conestoga lacrosse community. The event will honor Pete’s courageous fight against cancer and proceeds from the Kienzle Fund will provide one year of post-rehabilitative exercise for two individuals – a veteran and a civilian. Interested sponsors are invited to support the event and this worthy cause; several sponsorship levels are available. Eligibility: This event is open to girls in Grades 5-9 (i.e., Graduation Years 2019-2023). Township programs, clubs, coaches and parent promoters are encouraged to sign-up as many teams as interest permits. “A” and “B” brackets will be available (subject to level of interest) to enable teams to choose the appropriate level of competition. The event is also open to individuals who are not on a team but would like to experience the increasingly popular 5v5 format as members of “house teams” coached by members of the Conestoga girls’ varsity lacrosse team and/or volunteer coaches.
Team/Player Registration: Visit http://www.stogalaxfest.com/ to register (registration will open with week of 8/17).
Registration Deadline: Monday, September 28, 2015 (registrations will be accepted on a “first come first served” basis until the event is full.
Stick Donations: As with last year, the Conestoga Girls Lacrosse team is asking all teams/participants to bring a used lacrosse stick that can be donated to support the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association’s HEADstring Project (see http://headstringproject.com/).

Golf Outing

The 2015 PLA Golf Classic, which will be held on Columbus Day (Monday, 10/12) at Manufacturers’ Golf and Country Club in Fort Washington, PA.
Individuals and teams are encouraged to register as soon as possible, space is limited and the event is almost half full. For more information regarding the event and to register, please visit www.plagolfouting.com.
The event supports the PLA’s mission to promote the game of lacrosse in the Greater Philadelphia region, particularly its New Start Program, which provides technical and financial assistance to new lacrosse programs.
The proceeds enabled the PLA to do the following:
• Support of the PIAA Public Lacrosse League and youth and middle programs in Philadelphia;
• Conduct/sponsor high school and youth coaches’ clinics;
• Sponsor area charitable tournaments that keep Philadelphia lacrosse in the spotlight (including the Katie Samson Tournament, the Nick Colleluori Classic, Checking for Cancer and EvanFest);
• Organize/underwrite the 2nd Annual PLA High School Awards Recognition Banquet at the Radnor Hotel, which featured over 250 attendees and brought both the boys’ and girls’ games together to recognize elite high school lacrosse players and others who made their mark on the 2015 high school lacrosse season;
• Induct the Class of 2015 into the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame at Whitemarsh Country Club in February;
• Support the HEADstring Project, which donated over 200 new and refurbished sticks to programs in the City (see www.headstringproject.com); and
• Launch the PLA’s new website (see www.palacrosse.com).
The PLA is excited to return to Manufacturers! The club hosted the PLA’s first outing in 1993 and last hosted the event in 2006. The Club offers a majestic club house and other facilities and a traditional style parkland layout, featuring a great routing and scenic beauty throughout. Manufacturers’ is one of the “must play” courses in the Philadelphia area.
Sponsors: We would welcome your and your company’s participation and sponsorship to help ensure the outing’s success. All sponsors, patrons and (if applicable) their logos (and websites) will be promoted on tee-signs, in the event program, in press releases and on PLA website and the PLA Golf Classic website.
Please reserve your spot in the outing by registering for the event as soon as possible, but in any event before Monday, October 5th. Registrations will be processed on a first come, first served basis. Based on last year’s participation and the pace of registrations to date, we expect the outing to sell out.
