Youth Clinics

The second Kip Taviano 10ve Lacrosse Celebration will be held on Saturday, May 30 at the Concord Township Municipal Center. The event, in conjunction with the Brandywine Youth Club, celebrates the life of former Haverford School and Garnet Valley youth player Kip Taviano, who died in a car accident on May 28, 2013. The morning will feature a youth clinic for boys and girls in grades 1–to-6. The clinic will focus on skill development and playing with passion. Coach Richie Meade, head coach of Furman men’s lacrosse and the US National coach, will run the boys’ clinics; Garnet Valley grad Kate Henwood, also the former Garnet Valley coach (two-time state champion) and current UC Davis coach, will run the girls’ clinics.
After the clinic, a series of youth and high school commemorative games will be played throughout late morning and early afternoon. The day end with an alumni commemorative game, where any 2014 and older high school grad, current college player or older is invited to participate. At mid-day there will be a flag pole dedication.
Last year’s inaugural event featured a “Love Field” dedication for Kip, who passed away at 18, just before graduating from The Haverford School where he was a popular member of the lacrosse team and a recruited player for the first team at Furman University. Kip also played lacrosse for Brandywine Youth Club and his father, Jim, was a longtime coach there.
