From Press Release and Staff Report

Five teams from last year’s final TopLaxRecruits.com Girls’ Rankings – including Philly, top team, Moorestown – will compete March 14 in the annual Delmar/Mid-Atlantic Girls Lacrosse Play-Day at six-time defending Delaware state Champion Cape Henlopen.

The lineup of this preseason event includes last year’s No. 1 and No. 2 teams, IAAM champion McDonogh School (MD) and New Jersey Tournament of Champions winner Moorestown. McDonogh (21-0 last year) enters the year with six straight perfect seasons and a 112-game win streak while Moorestown (26-0) has won 77 consecutive games.

Also competing are defending Virginia Independent state champion Bishop Ireton (20-4, No. 7), Maryland 3A/2A champion Marriotts Ridge (17-2, No. 17) and IAAM power Severn School (14-5, No. 19) as well as Cape Henlopen (16-3), and Maryland Public powers Mt Hebron (13-2) and Queen Anne’s County (16-3).

The concept of this play-day is to invite the best teams from the metropolitan areas of Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington DC to come to the Delmarva Peninsula to compete in a play-day with the two best teams from Delmarva. This year Cape and Queen Anne’s County again represent Delmarva.

The date this year is Saturday March 14th at Cape Henlopen’s two turf field stadium complex on the Delaware shore in Lewes Delaware. Each team will have three scrimmage games with the first games starting at 9 and the last at 2.
