Three returning Duke lettermen — defenseman Chris Coady, longstick midfielder Brian Dailey (Conestoga) and attackman Kyle Keenan — will begin the 2015 season serving an indefinite suspension from the program.

Duke opens the season today at High Point University. The Blue Devils return 31 lettermen and four starters from last year’s squad that went 17-3 and captured its second straight NCAA championship.

Duke made the announcement of the suspension on Friday. According to the Duke Chronicle, the incident occurred Nov. 9 when police reported that Keenan was cited for unforced breaking and entering and minor assault of the home owner of an off-campus house located near East Campus.

No charges were filed by the victim, according to the report, and the players do not face legal action.

Dailey, the Phillylacrosse.com Co-Player of the Year in 2011 when he helped lead Conestoga to the state title, is expected to be the team’s No. 1 LSM after scooping 28 groundballs last year while splitting the role. In his place, freshman Greg Pelton (Malvern Prep), the Phillylacrosse.com Co-Player of the Year in 2014, could see more time.

Keenan is expected to play a key role this year after amassing 25 goals and 10 assists last year while also making the NCAA All-Tournament team.
