This is one of a series of previews for the 2015 Philly lacrosse season

Holy Ghost Prep

League: Independent

Head Coach: Ryan Tessler – 3rd Season

Last year’s record: 12-7, (2nd Round of District Playoffs, Top 25 in Final Rankings)

Key returnees:PL Boys' HS previews
Michael Major, SR-ATT
Gregory Price, SR- G
Andre Puleo, SR- DEF
Grant Toller, SR-MID
Michael Kirby, SR-LSM
Alex Yake, SR-MID
Aidan Yake, SR-Mid
Anthony Gentile JR-Att
Aydan Drakel, JR-D

Outlook for 2015 season: “The Firebirds will look to build upon last year’s successful campaign. The Senior-laden team features strong leaders at both ends of the field looking to leave their mark in school history. The midfield is athletic and has some younger players looking to step up and create depth on our roster. HGP will try to maximize opportunities on offense while pushing the pace with an aggressive defense. Our schedule is extremely competitive which we hope will help develop our team for a playoff run.”

The Hill School

League: Mid-Atlantic Prep

Head Coach: Dave Mullen, year 2

Last year’s record: 6-8, Lost 1st round Inter-Ac Tournament to Hun in OT

Key returnees:
Aidan Coll -2016 attackman (Drexel)
Jake Saenz – 2016 attackman (Bucknell)
Conor Rayfield – 2015 defenseman
Will Schantz – 2015 FO/Midfield

Outlook for 2015 season: “Hill should be a much improved team from the 2014 campaign. Adding two high level goalies, Chase Midgley 2015 (Middlebury) and Drew Hutchison 2017 from Peterborough, Ont will provide depth between the pipes. Wes Shaw, a Headstrong 2017 midfield transfer from Calvert Hall should provide a boost on both sides of the field. The team will also have depth defensively after adding Andrew Lundstrom (PG from Radnor HS) and a number of returners will fight for jobs at close. After losing only two major contributors to graduation last year, this group is poised for great things in 2015.”
