From Press Release

The University of Pennsylvania men’s lacrosse team enjoyed an historic 2014 season. Inside Lacrosse and Lacrosse Magazine are predicting that the 2015 season could be another one for the books.

As a team, Penn was picked 11th in the Lacrosse Magazine and 12th in the Inside Lacrosse preseason poll. The Quakers are one of five Ivy League teams in the polls, joining Cornell (10 LM/8 IL), Harvard (11/12), Yale (16/17) and Princeton (-/20).

In addition, senior defenseman Matt McMahon was named a preseason All-America by Inside Lacrosse. McMahon started all 15 games on defense last year and received honorable mention All-Ivy recognition after finishing second on the team in caused turnovers (20) and scooping up 26 ground balls.

Both the preseason Top 20 and All-America Teams are part of the Inside Lacrosse’s annual Face-Off Yearbook, which is available now.

Penn finished last season with an 11-4 record, winning eight straight to end the season before losing to Drexel in the first round of the NCAA Championship at Franklin Field. The Quakers were Ivy League Tournament champions for the first time. They return eight of their top 10 scorers from a year ago.

Penn will open its season on Saturday, Feb. 14 against UMBC at Franklin FIeld. Click here to see the entire 2015 schedule.
