Isabelle Rohr never really had much of a choice.
The Episcopal Academy freshman, who plays club for Mesa Fresh and Phantastix, started playing lacrosse when she was younger, but with three older brothers playing, the only thing she ever knew was how to play boys’ lacrosse.
“I always played with my brothers Sam, Ben and Peter and I never realized that there was girls lacrosse until my dad (Peter) got me into it,” the youngest Rohr said. “My brothers were always really rough with me, and I’m still a very aggressive player because of them. I picked up a lot of shooting skills from them, too. My dad coached all of my brothers, so I’d go in the backyard with them and shoot with boys sticks. When I switched over to girls sticks, I found that shooting with boys sticks helped me develop a powerful shot.”
