From Press Release
NXTevents is pleased to announce the launch of the Chicago Indoor Lacrosse Championships and The Grail in Indiana as two of the many highlights in its winter and summer of 2016 schedule.
The CHILC is one of the few true box lacrosse events and follows the vast success that the Philadelphia Indoor Lacrosse Championships have had. It will be held at the Players Indoor Sports Center in Naperville (Ill.).
Box lacrosse’s popularity has skyrocketed in recent years and it has become a crucial teaching component in many field lacrosse clubs’ curricula. Players get to learn to work in much tighter and confined spaces, which in turns helps players’ stickwork improve exponentially.
“We’ll be fielding high school and U15 divisions for the CHILC,” Vice President, Events Robin Baxter said. “Box lacrosse is such a different, yet entertaining game, and its influence at the college and high school levels is obvious. We’re excited to bring a true box tournament to the Chicago area and we can’t wait to see many of the Midwest’s best programs be a part of it.”
“We’re also thrilled to be headed to Indiana for The Grail at Grand Park, which is one of the most impressive facilities in the country,” Baxter added. “It features more than 30 fields and will help The Grail become the focal point of Midwestern teams’ summer schedule, as well as round out our three-event summer Midwest NXTevents offerings.”
The PILC follows the CHILC as NXTevents’ two winter box events. The PILC will be held on Presidents’ Day weekend at the Feasterville Sportsplex and features youth and high school divisions.
The schedule also features new dates and new locations for several events, including The Meltdown, which moves from Abington High School to United Sports in Downingtown and Episcopal Academy.
“We’re excited to give the Meltdown a facelift and a new look as it moves to a pair of unbelievable facilities in United Sports and EA,” Director, Events Ryan Long said. “Abington was a great venue, but this is an awesome opportunity to open up The Meltdown experience to even more teams. We strongly feel that it will become one of the summer’s must-attend events.”
The South Carolina Shootout in Greenville (S.C.) once again opens up NXTevents’ nine-event summer slate June 4-5. The famous NXT Cup, the country’s most prestigious youth event, caps the summer on July 9-10. Visit nxt-events.com for more information about a particular event and see the full list of events below.
