From Press Release
NXTsports is pleased to announce the U.S. Box Lacrosse Association (USBOXLA) and the U.S. Box Lacrosse Academy as its official box lacrosse partner.
USBOXLA brings authentic USBOXLA training to NXT’s Showcase Lacrosse division. USBOXLA launches this training with the two Boys Philly Showcase Camps and the Southern Showcase Camp this summer, giving some of the nation’s finest college-bound players a chance to learn from one of the college game’s brightest minds and a staff of proven box coaches.
The partnership aims to grow the USBOXLA membership, along with its events and participation at the USBOXLA Academies. USBOXLA, led by a staff of exclusively former and current NLL players, will take over the educational component to NXT’s Showcase Lacrosse events.
“Everything NXT does is top notch, from their events to Showcases and beginner programs and everything in between,” USBOXLA CEO Matt Brown said. “As an organization, we couldn’t be more excited to partner with NXT.
“As one of the coaches for the US Box Lacrosse Academy, I’m thrilled to work with some of the nation’s finest players and teach them USBOXLA branded lacrosse. It’s the future of the sport and we’re excited to partner with such a great organization as NXT.”
Brown has been a coach of Canada’s U19 team in 2012 and gold medal-winning men’s national team this past summer in Denver. He is the associate head coach and offensive coordinator at the University of Denver and is the architect behind one of the most lethal and efficient offenses in college lacrosse. Denver is consistently talked about as a flag bearer for how box lacrosse is changing the college game and will now be a consistent presence at Showcase events. The deal is laying the foundation for what NXT and USBOXLA see as a productive partnership in future endeavors.
“We feel that partnering with USBOXLA allows us to provide players with the best box education training,” NXT co-founder and University of Hartford head coach Peter Lawrence said. “Additionally, it allows us to have more college coaches represented on staff. From the beginning, the goal of these camps has been to have a great staff, the best education and great exposure for the players. We just got that much better by partnering with USBOXLA.”
“Matt Brown is one of the best lacrosse educators in the world,” NXT President & CEO Andy Hayes said. “The opportunity to work with him and his staff will help us meet our Showcase Camp educational goals of teaching the best players in the country how to improve their game. USBOXLA’s commitment to box lacrosse education is unmatched and we are excited to have our players learn the traditional box lacrosse game. The sport’s impact in the college game is growing, so the ability to work with USBOXLA and their incredible staff is a major opportunity for NXT.”
