University of Delaware men’s lacrosse head coach Bob Shillinglaw has announced that a trio of standout midfielders – Elijah Conte, Steve Delargy, and Jackson Finigan – have been selected as team captains for the 2016 season.

The three are among 28 players returning for the Blue Hens this spring. Delaware will open its season Feb. 6 at Bucknell. The complete schedule will be announced next week.

“Our staff is extremely excited about the selection of Jackson Finigan, Steve Delargy and Elijah Conte as captains for the 2016 season,” said Shillinglaw, who will begin his 38th season at Delaware and his 41st season overall as a head coach in 2016. “Their selection was by a team vote and all three have done a terrific job of leading the team both on and off the field this fall. Jackson, Steve, and Elijah have been positive examples making clear to all of our players the level of commitment needed for success. I am looking forward to working closely with them for this upcoming season.”

He played in 14 games and started five contests during the 2015 season when he recorded three goals and four assists and added 14 groundballs and two caused turnovers. For his career, Delargy has played in 32 games with 20 starts and has 19 goals, 12 assists, and 24 groundballs.
