There is always a high level of competition amongst high school boys’ and girls’ games which will be held on fields at the three school campuses located in Haverford and Bryn Mawr, PA. Through the spirit of sportsmanship and competition, the annual Nike Checking for Cancer Invitational benefits cancer programs which help support the brave individuals and families who battle these diseases.

The vision behind Checking for Cancer is to promote awareness and early detection of prostate, colorectal and testicular cancers. Efforts are directed to raise funds for the fight against these predominately men’s cancers. Directors are partnering with local organizations in our efforts to eliminate the harmful effects of cancer from the world around us with various programs targeted to community support, research, education and awareness.

The website for the event is www.checkingforcancer.org.

“It’s exciting to see Checking for Cancer happening for the 7th consecutive year,” Nostrant said. “We are very pleased to have The Agnes Irwin School and The Shipley School embrace the focus of awareness and early detection of men’s cancers with us and appreciate their support of the event.

“The Haverford School has a strong commitment to service and leadership, and the lacrosse team shows these attributes every year during the planning and execution of Checking for Cancer. By educating the community, we improve the chance of catching these diseases early.”
