Three Fusion Lacrosse club teams traveled west to Ohio last weekend to participate in US Box Lacrosse Midwest classic, hosted by Resolute Lacrosse. Two Fusion teams earned medals with the 2019’s earning bronze in the middle school division, and the 2017’s earning silver in the Junior Varsity division.
The Fusion 2017’s lost to host Resolute Black in a heartbreaker 5-4 in the Championship game. The 2017s beat True Lacrosse from Chicago, Resolute White from Ohio, and the Bandits from Michigan en route to the Championship game.
“This was yet another great tournament run by USBoxla and all of our boys had a tremendous experience,” said Steven Holmes, co-founder of Fusion Lacrosse. “Resolute lacrosse is run by professionals Greg Bice and Anthony Kelly. They were yet again great hosts and their facility is perfect for this type of event.
“Our 2017s have been training with box lacrosse for the past two years with us and we are really starting to reap the benefits of all of that training and hard work,” said Kevin Crowley, Fusions other co-founder. “Our guys are really getting comfortable with the game and their toughness, skills, and decision making are improving rapidly. It was a great experience for all of our players and families in attendance.”
Fusion lacrosse had 10 players make the all-star game in the Junior varsity division between their 2018 and 2017 teams. This included top goal scorer Dru Miller (Parkland, Quinnipiac commit) and top point getter Ryan Gerulo (Parkland HS midfielder). Fusion also got dominating faceoff play both Forrest Rosser (Bayard Rustin) and Joey Sivo (West Chester East). On the defensive side Tom McGuire (Malvern Prep) led the charge for Fusion.
