Duquesne University lacrosse coach Mike Scerbo recently announced the addition of 10 new players for the 2016 season. Signing National Letters of Intent to play for the Dukes were Courtney Battles (Finksburg, Md./Westminster), Megan Buettner (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley), Erin Conway (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge), Taylor Hopkins (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon), Sarah Kollhoff (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East), Haley Matthai (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and Millie Micho (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Rock Canyon).

Battles comes to Duquesne as a four-year letter-winner and two time team captain. An All County Second Team & MPSSAA choice as a senior, she also received All-Conference and All-MVAL honors. In addition, Battles was an indoor track & field captain, an AP Scholar and an Honors Student.

Buettner joins the Dukes as a four-year varsity letter winner for lacrosse, leading her team to an undefeated season and Chesmont champions. A two-time varsity letter winner for basketball, she was team captain her senior year.

Conway was a four-year varsity starter and team captain her senior year. She was also a New Jersey MSG First Team honoree, a three time Second Team All-County choice, Honorable Mention All-County as a freshman. Her teams were three-time county champions, state sectional champions and two-time Skyland Conference champions. Conway also played varsity field hockey in ninth and 10th grade.

Hopkins was also a four-year varsity starter and letter winner. A two-time varsity captain, she helped lead her team to the WPIAL semifinals in 2015. Hopkins was also a WPIAL All-Conference choice, an Academic All-American, named to the 2014 Western Pa. National Lacrosse Team, a four-year honors student and was secretary of SADD.

Kollhoff comes to DU as a four-year varsity letter winner. A team captain as a senior, she was First Team All Ches-Mont League as a senior, second team as a junior and honorable mention as a sophomore. Kollhoff also received the Downingtown East Best Athlete Award for 2014-2015 and played varsity field hockey as a sophomore.

Matthai joins the Red and Blue as a four-year lacrosse letter winner for her two-time state semifinalist team. She earned First Team All-County as a senior, Second Team All-County as a junior and was a two-time Academic All-American. In addition, Matthai played varsity field hockey for three years. Her team was 2013 State Champions and she was a two-time First Team All-County selection and a Baltimore Sun Player of the Week as a junior.

Micho was a First Team All-State honoree as a senior. In addition, she was a First Team All-League choice as a junior and senior and a Second Team All-League honoree as a freshman and sophomore. Micho was also a four-time member of the Colorado National Team and was varsity team captain as a junior and senior.

Also joining the Dukes for the 2016 season will be Jocelyn Cawoski (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe), Fiona Dargan (Williamsville, Pa./Williamsville South) and Angela McMonagle (Phoenixville, Pa./Pope John Paul III).
