A member of the Temple women’s lacrosse team is in critical condition at Temple University Hospital after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding her bike Wednesday night in North Philadelphia.
Police have identified Rachel Hall, 22, of Mullica Hill, N.J. and Clearview Regional High, as the victim. Hall is a reserve goalie who is set to graduate.
According to Philly.com, an 18-year-old man admitted to the crime today and has been taken into custody.
Philly.com reported that The silver Mitsubishi Galant which struck Hall was found about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, approximately 3 hours after the incident occurred at the intersection of North Park Avenue and Diamond Street.
Police reports have said Hall was riding a mountain bike when she was struck. She suffered head and leg injuries, reports said.
According to the Temple lacrosse website, Hall is a criminal justice major with a minor in sociology. Reports have noted that she is interested in law enforcement as a career.
An honor roll student who has been named to the Dean’s List every semester, she also is a member of the Temple Improv Club and was a member of the National Honor Society while at Clearview Regional.
