Host Springfield-Delco used a 9-1 spurt to take control of the game before holding off Garnet Valley, 11-10, Tuesday in a Central League girls lacrosse featuring the two teams that met in the state finals last year.
The Cougars, down 6-2 at one point of the first half, improved to 4-0 in the league and 6-1 overall. The defending state champion jaguars fell to 4-4 and 2-3.
Emily Santana led Springfield with five goals and Bailey O’Brien added three. Kamryn McNeal paced the Jags with three goals and an assist and Emily Mathewson had two goals and two assists.

Jane Henderson (5G, 2A, 3DCs, 1GB) and Laura Lasprogata (5G, 5DCs, 1GB) led the Rams.
Radnor 18, Haverford High 5
Lexi Kenneally fired in five goals to lead the Raiders.

Liz Scott had four goals and seven draw controls while Sondra Dickey and Maggie Stetson each had three goals and two assists for the Pioneers.

Julia Dambly (2G, 4gb, 1dc), Claire Nappi (2g, 2gb) and Caroline Allen (2g, 2dc) led the Irish to their fifth straight win.
Ali Thaler (3gb, 1ct, 4dc) and Eliza Mantelmacher (3g, 1gb, 1ct, 1dc) led Baldwin.

Five players – Caroline Steller (two assists), Allie Scannopieco (one assist), Kaely Kyle, Caroline Heath and Lauren Dice – scored two goals each for Merion Mercy in the key Catholic Academies League win.
Katie Manta had two goals and an assist while Caroline Mackrides and Lucy Meehan each had two goals for VMA.
