The Lionville U11A boy’s lacrosse team won the U11A division at last weekend’s Liberty Lacrosse Shootout in Malvern.
The Lionville team completed a standout season, finishing 17-2 throughout the year and 5-0 at Liberty. In pool play the Lionville team went 3-0 beating Blak Widow, HHL, as well as Ashbee in some hard fought games. Going into the semi-finals its faced a familiar foe in a strong Kennett Square team. Kennett and Lionville fought back and forth throughout the first half with both teams scoring some fantastic goals. In the second half, Lionville pulled away.
In the championship Lionville faced a very well coached Man Up team. Both teams played very hard despite it being the fifth game of the day in 80+ degree heat and while Man Up played very well Lionville took the game and the championship. This is now the second Liberty championship for many of these boys as they won it two years ago as U9 players.
Offensive production came from all over the field, leading the way in goals through the five victories were Matty Traynor, Will Peden, Colin Michener, Braeden Lange, Dylan McMahon, PJ Oppenheimer, Reilly Dugan, and Luke Wetzel. Defensively the team was led by goalie Owen Karp and a great group of long poles led by Jayden Rowe, Drew Deves, Tyler Robinson, Colin Measel, & Quinn Hall as well as midfielders Kurt Rachau, Miles Bavuso, Braeden Vitelli, and Jakob Voehringer who were all instrumental in keeping Lionville’s goals against average below four goals per game.
